Sinusitis: Types, Symptoms, and Treatments

Sinusitis: Types, Symptoms, and Treatments

About 35 million Americans have sinusitis at least once each year. Thus, it’s only right for people to know what types of sinusitis there are, what symptoms they may have, and what treatments they can get to alleviate discomfort.

There are four types of sinusitis:

  1. Acute sinusitis which usually starts with cold-like symptoms – loss of smell, runny nose, cough or congestions, facial pain or pressure, fever, and dental pain – and lasts for about 2 to 4 weeks
  2. Subacute sinusitis, which usually starts 4 to 12 weeks
  3. Chronic sinusitis has some similar symptoms to acute sinusitis but also has other more dire signs such as nasal blockage, pus in the nasal cavity, runny nose, or discolored postnasal drainage.
  4. Recurrent sinusitis, which happens several times a year

For patients with a simple sinus infection, you may visit the nearest Walk-in Clinic – they’ll advise you on the best course of action, like taking decongestants or other medications.

For patients with more serious symptoms, however, we advise that you seek professional Emergency Care in Ohio.
